I was walking along the riverbank
I felt so dammed confused
The river told a story
With a song that had no words
I always wanted to be there
I know that I am not at home
I hope I never leave here
The light is fading slow
I walk on down the railroad track
Hoping to meet the sky
Trees sway softly
To the song that will never die
The place that I want to be
Doesn’t look a bit like this
I want to follow the wind to my destiny
The air is hot and dry
I know that I want to be there
I know that I can’t go back
The river travels around and around
The railroad track runs dry
Heaven is hell with the lights turned on
I’ve never felt so dammed confused
I never want to leave this place
I’ve got to find my home
I walk along the oceanfront
The sun is in my eyes
The birds fly high
The tide comes in
All I ask is why
